From services such as counseling to shelter or advocacy, thousands of domestic abuse victims in Wisconsin receive help on a daily basis. Often times privacy and safety are two areas victims need help in securing.
A recently introduced Senate bill wants to help victims of domestic abuse, stalking and other areas to be safe in their own homes.
Senate Bill 488 wants to help keep addresses of victims secure. Republican State Representative Mike Rohrkaste of Neenah is cosponsoring the bill.
"It's pretty easy to find out addresses unless those addresses are protected " Says Rohrkaste. "It's a protection bill for people who could be some of the most vulnerable by protecting their address"
The proposed program works by the state department of justice giving participants an address to use for mail... Then they forward the mail or packages to person's actual home.
