The Green Bay School Board is still hearing ideas from parents on how to better protect their students in the classroom.

Parents have suggested ideas like conducting more mental health screenings on students and providing more security guards at the entrances of school buildings.

Green Bay Area Schools say they have already applied for some grant money, through Governor Scott Walker's recently signed School Safety Plan.

Despite their application, School Board President Brenda Warren said there are some limitations on what they can use the grant money for.

"It can't be used for people to hire anybody, so it's all equipment, cameras, radios and structural kinds of things for our schools".

The school board is still waiting to hear back about the status of their grant application.
