SCA in Neenah is teaming up with the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh to "Go Green" to celebrate Earth Day.
Hosting a kick-off event today at the Neenah plant for the gardening program after starting a composting program over a year ago.
Hoping to create a zero-waste office, employees put all food waste, napkins, tissues, and paper towels into a compost bin. Now, those items have degraded into usable soil to use for planting vegetables and flowers in their backyards.
To thank employees, SCA purchased 160 bags of Titan Gold Compost, developed at UW-O, to provide the composted soil.
Initial numbers show that nearly 60% of SCA employee's waste has been kept from a landfill thanks in large part to the program.
