The Saving Paws Animal Rescue in Appleton is still looking for people to adopt dogs and puppies after its largest intake ever.
On Tuesday night, four Labs and one Great Pyrenees went home in likely adoptions. Three applications were approved and two other families have appointments.
The small rescue had more than 35 dogs Tuesday, including 18 puppies, that were brought from other shelters around the country. Some arrived around 1:30 Tuesday morning, and a few more will be arriving this week, according to rescue volunteers.
28 dogs came from Texas Tuesday, and eight came from Tennessee Saturday, the rescue said.
"We have the fun and rewarding side of adopting cute puppies to great families," said Deb Joseph, dog adoption coordinator for Saving Paws. "These dogs free up a foster home in Texas so that home can take a dog from high-kill pounds."
