Menasha, WI -- It's the official start of the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign in the Fox Cities.
The kick off event is Friday at the Festival Foods in Menasha to show the need for volunteers to ring bells at the kettles. The event runs from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Red Kettle Campaign is kicking off at 35 retail locations in the Fox Valley. That means volunteers are needed to fill more than 13,000 shifts.
Money raised by the Red Kettle Campaign go to help families dealing with poverty.
According to the Salvation Army, last year more than $1.2 million was raised during the season to help fund critical year-round programs in the Fox Cities.
The 2016 Red Kettle Campaign goal will be announced at a later date.
