State Superintendent Tony Evers will hear performances from the Suring High School music department Wednesday during the meeting of his Advisory Council on Rural Schools, Libraries, and Communities at the Suring High School Library.
 
The meeting begins at 9 a.m. with a welcome from Suring Superintendent Kelly Casper. Evers will address the group, mentioning successes of the district that include higher graduation rates, successful implementation of age-appropriate Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports, and passage of a referendum to pay district operational and maintenance costs. Topics on the council agenda include rural school and library connections, mental health in rural schools, and broadband in rural schools and libraries.
 
The lunch showcase begins at noon with the high school band under the direction of Kaci Hoverson and choir under the direction of Micki Carlson. During the school tour, the FFA chapter will be hosting its Food for America program. The meeting is expected to adjourn at 2 p.m.
