Road closures for Oneida Nation Big Applefest

Posted

It's a fall tradition that has grown each year: The Oneida Nation Big Applefest. Because of its popularity, this year's event will include road closures to keep festival attendees safe.

Big Applefest will be held September 16 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at two locations on Hwy 54. Hwy 54 will be closed from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. that day from Hwy 172 to South Pine Rd to through traffic.

Customers will be allowed access to local businesses during the temporary closure.

“This event is a way for Oneida to give back to the surrounding community,” said event organizer Michelle Danforth. “It’s an opportunity to spend time with family, take a horse and wagon ride, and have some good old fashioned fun.”

Big Applefest is a free festival that includes live music, wagon rides, farm animals, food and an apple pie contest at the Cultural Heritage site. The Oneida Apple Orchard will be open for apple picking.
