A new program to make sure Oshkosh rental property owners are meet housing codes begins this month.
The residential rental inspection program splits the city into five sections. They’ll focus on one section each year, ensuring properties are safe and in good conditions.
This year, inspectors will look at areas around the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and downtown.
However, the program is being challenged in court by the Winnebago Apartments Association.
“Given the nature of our age of our housing, as well as what we know and what we found in some of these rental areas, we feel the program is very important so that’s why we want to proceed with it,” said Mark Rohloff, Oshkosh City Manager.
A hearing has been set for March 1.
