A blood shortage has the American Red Cross in Green Bay asking for your help.

They say every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs life saving blood, but donations went down during the busy holiday season.

Now with the blast of frigid weather and snowy conditions, along with cold and flu season, fewer people are rolling up their sleeves to donate.

"We are in an emergency for blood and just really hope that they can get the word out and the donors step up, especially first time donors come in and donate. That always helps," said Debbie Mylener.

Right now, the Red Cross needs O negative, A negative, and B negative blood types.
