Push for Muppet book ban

Posted

MARSHFIELD, Wis- A Marshfield school board member is working to ban a Muppet book from the schools kindergarten classes.

Kermit the Frog narrates the book, and one school board member says it’s too graphic for kids.

The book is called “For Every Child a Better World.”

It was published in 1993, and touches on poverty, homelessness and war.

The book includes a note to parents encouraging them to read and discuss with their child.

"It's almost like it’s the worst of the worst, if you do get a chance to look at some of the images, they're disturbing as an adult! I'd rather see these types of topics discussed with parent to child and not necessarily a teacher classroom full of children at one time," said Mary Carney, Marshfield school board member.

The book still needs a final vote of approval from the school board. That will likely happen next month.
