Public open house set to discuss Appleton mixed-use development proposal

APPLETON, Wis. - Community members are invited to attend an open house where city leaders will discuss the mixed-use development proposal. This proposal is from the team led by Commercial Horizons. The plan includes a new library and space for retail and apartments or condominiums.

The proposed project would connect Soldiers Square with Houdini Plaza.

Phase one creates a temporary surface parking lot to the south of the YMCA, so the Soldiers Square ramp can be torn down. A new library, 96 apartments and space for retail would be built on the site currently occupied by the Soldiers Square Ramp. It also includes underground parking.

Appleton leaders say future phases could see 200 additional apartments, a restaurant, retail and a new parking ramp built on the site of the temporary parking lot to the south of the YMCA.

The open house will take place at the Appleton Public Library on Thursday, March 15th from 6 -8 p.m.
Information about the project and process surrounding the proposal will be available to view.

• Doors open at 6 p.m.
• Meeting is in the lower level meeting rooms of the library
• Presentations by Mayor Hanna and Commercial Horizons development team at 6:30 p.m.
• Question and answer session following the presentations

Community members are encouraged to come and go as needed during the open house. City and Library staff will also be on hand to answer questions before and after the presentation.
