Residents on Green Bay’s west side might smell propane from a Wednesday night leak, but the Green Bay Fire Department has the situation under control is monitoring the issue, police said.

Authorities responded just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday to a propane leak from a large tank at Ferrell Gas, 1245 N. Buchanan St., near Velp Avenue, police said.

The propane leak was stopped and there is no danger to residents in the area, according to the Green Bay Fire Department.  Authorities tested air levels and concluded there's no threat to the public, according to the fire department.

Weather conditions could lead residents in the area to smell the gas overnight Wednesday into Thursday, but there is no need to alert authorities if the gas is smelled during that time, police said.
