Project 900 helps homeless who are on a shelter waiting list

Posted

A group of  West De Pere High School students is trying to help the homeless who are on a waiting list to get into a shelter.

The Destination Imagination club has launched Project 900. The name represents the 900 students that are identified as homeless in the Green Bay area.

The teens are selling T-shirts for $10 a piece. The money raised will be used to temporarily house the homeless until room opens up at the Freedom House shelter.

"This project has just been super eye opening for us. Just that we don't realize how much we have, and how much we take for granted, and the little things that we can do to help everybody in our community," said sophomore Brooke Bemowski.

Project 900 says their goal is to raise awareness and get as many people off the streets as possible.
