The "SANE" program at Thedacare is expanding by training more nurses to help sexual assault survivors.

SANE stands for Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, and over the last few years it has grown from just 2 to now 12 trained nurses.

April is also sexual assault awareness month, and Thedacare is proud to be able to offer care and coverage to more people who may be looking for it.

At Thedacare Regional Medical Center- Appleton, a new suite has been dedicated to use for the program, offering a comforting place of peace after an often traumatic event.

Through the on-call program and working with law enforcement, Thedacare offers a place for victims to receive quality care and evidence collection at one place, ending the need to for a person to visit multiple places thus reliving a nightmare  multiple times.

Thedacare hopes to continue to grow and be able to offer 24-7 coverage within the next 3 to 6 months.
