Port of Green Bay has economic impact of $147M

Posted

A new report finds the port of Green Bay contributes $147 million in economic impact to our area.

The study looked at all cargo and vessel activity in 2017.

Last year 14 businesses moved more than 1.8 million tons of cargo through the port.

The study also found the port supports close to 1300 jobs.

"Today you see some guys on the boats. You see some guys on the trucks driving," said Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach. "So you can see that it impacts many types of vocations and jobs throughout our region."

"Every port job created provides a living wage and results for a new family settling here in Northeast Wisconsin," said Harbor Commission President Tom Klimek.

The last study was done in 2011.

The new study shows a $64 million increase in the past 8 years.
