Police will not be charged in the death...

Many disappointed friends and family of Michael Funk today. Funk is the man who was killed after being held hostage at a Neenah standoff with police about six months ago. Today it was announced that no charges would filed against the officers who shot and killed him as he fled the hostage situation.

Police told the public today that nine shots were fired at Funk at the time and it's likely that just one shot fired, came from his captor, the rest were from police.

"I think Mr. Funk felt like he was going to be protected and the police were going to be there if he ran out the door. The police would be there to protect him and that didn't happen," says Kay Reetz a family friend of the Funk family.

Eagle Nation Cycles does plan on filing a civil lawsuit in the near future for the death of Michael Funk but representatives say it’s going to take place one step at a time.
