The Seymour Police Department has received several complaints from residents about a group of salesmen going door to door, aggressively trying to sell cleaning products.
The group was stopped by police and have been classified as being from out of state. They have a dark-gray tinted van with an Idaho license plate.
When asked to provide proof of company affiliation, the group failed to present company issued identification cards. Some of them didn't have their state IDs and were fingerprinted.
It is illegal to solicit door to door in Freedom, Seymour, Black Creek and Shiocton.
Police advise that if someone comes to your door peddling a product, you should ask for their company ID card and practice caution as well as good judgment before inviting them inside your home.
Police also advise that burglars sometimes pose as salesmen to access information for future crimes.
