Green Bay Police report a spike in property thefts in the community. According to a news release, the thieves are taking bicycles and other items from unlocked and open garages. "This type of thievery is the low hanging fruit or a crime that can, in most cases, be prevented by the property owner," the release reads.
Officers say property owners should close and lock their garages when away and remove valuables from vehicles. They also recommend bicycle owners to register their bikes with the city to have a better chance at recovery if it is stolen.
