It's the final day of the collection phase for the 2018 Police Lights of Christmas campaign.
Saturday at the Timber Rattlers Stadium, officers joined city mayors and Santa to help assemble items into hundreds of backpacks.
Officials said that this event can change the community's perception of law enforcement.
"We also wanted to help our community, our neighbors in need, so we kind of merged the two ideas," Q90 FM's Katie Connell said. "And instead of us, Q90 FM going out into the community and helping people, we handed off all the gifts all the money to our local police departments for them to hand out."
Saturday also begins phase two of this campaign.
Officers will soon surprise families in need just in time for Christmas.
