It’s been almost 36 hours since a home on Fire Lane 12 in Harrison exploded, and debris is still scattered over the ground. The homes next door are severely damaged.
The explosion happened around 8 a.m. Wednesday morning. Jenny Hoffman, who lives two doors down, says the blast was so violent that windows in her home shattered.
Police still do not know what caused the explosion and they did not give an estimate as to how long it would take to clean up all the debris.
Hoffman says she and other neighbors are lucky no one died from the explosion.
"I was very lucky,” says Hoffman. “My bedroom faces where the explosion was. Our house is on cinderblocks. So, it was pretty sturdy."
Hoffman says she spoke with the family who had two girls go to the hospital with minor injuries. She says the girls are doing well, except one has a broken thumb.
