Early Tuesday morning a resident in the former Valley Fair Mall area called to report two men who appeared to be looking into cars in parking lots, according to Village of Fox Crossing/Town of Menasha police.

Officers arrived and found the two men, who lived elsewhere, and their stories did not make much sense. They also had a backpack full of electronics and other items. One of the men was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant.

Police have connected the men with one theft in the town and another in Appleton. However, they have a wide range of additional property that does not appear to belong to the men. Police believe the men were targeting apartments in the former Valley Fair Mall area as well as homes in the south side of Appleton.

Those who are missing any items from your car last evening are asked to call Officer Swenson at 920-720-7109.
