A man faces charges after he led authorities on a high-speed chase through downtown Green Bay Tuesday, according to police.

Police said they believe the driver had been drinking before he recklessly drove through Green Bay's east side overnight.

The driver later went the wrong way through downtown and over the Mason Street bridge, before he crashed into a tree near Marquette Avenue, police said.

"The suspect... driver is putting not only the officer but themselves and the community at risk," said Capt. Kevin Warych of the Green Bay Police Department.

The man faces charges including OWI.
