Brillion Police say a hostage situation in downtown Brillion has ended in the arrest of one man.

During a press conference early Monday afternoon, they said they were alerted to a hostage situation Monday morning that the SWAT team was dispatched to. It began around 9:15 AM.

Police say a man held a woman and a child in a residence on Main Street. It was an apartment above a flower shop at 119 S Main Street. Initial reports said the man had a knife, that is yet to be confirmed.

Police were also told that the man had threatened to harm any law enforcement he saw.

The Calumet County Emergency Response team was activated as all as the Brillion Police Department response. They were able to shut down roads quickly and advised the public to avoid the area.

The SWAT team entered the home and took the man into custody without incident. The entire standoff lasted about two and a half hours.

No one was injured in the event, but there is no word yet on what charges the suspect could be facing.
