Police say a person with a BB gun caused a a school lockdown in Little Chute.
Around 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, officers from Fox Valley Metro Police Department were dispatched to the area of Madison Street and Main Street to investigate what a witness believed was a person walking on the public sidewalk with a long gun partially concealed under a coat.
Due to the time of day and proximity to schools, police contacted the schools and advised them to go into lockdown. The Little Chute School District buildings and Saint John’s school were put into lockdown.
Police say officers were able to locate the individual, and the lockdown was lifted with minor interruptions to the school day.
Officers determined the person had bought a BB gun at a local resale shop and was carrying it home. Police say this individual was not a threat to the school staff or students and was not engaged in any type of criminal behavior. There is no ongoing threat to the community.
