It's getting closer to the holidays!
Wednesday evening, the Peace Tree was lit in the annual ceremony at the Brown County Courthouse.
The Peace Tree Lighting was originally started as a response to the Vietnam War and a need for peace.
Today, area children gather and read essays about peace, sing holiday music and come together kicking off the holiday season in Downtown Green Bay.
In addition to the Peace Tree, other events will be taking place throughout the week in Green Bay including Gallery Nite Presented by Merrill Lynch on Thursday and Friday's lighting ceremony on Broadway with window displays and a Gingerbread House Contest.
