Kiel Area School District receives a $2,000 check from the Shopko Foundation through the Help us Give Back program. Over the month of December the Shopko Hometown Store collected signatures from community members, for every signature Shopko donated $1.

District Administrator Louise Blankenheim says the money will be used to help students falling behind on lunch payments and with school supplies for families in a tough spot. "Every penny goes along way to help us with our mission. We've got a very involved community and I'm very grateful," said Blankenheim.

A total of 219 Hometown stores participated in the Help us Give Back generating $344,000 for schools across the country.
