School Districts in Brown County teamed up with Live 54218 to purchase nearly 3,000 pounds of farm-fresh produce from an area farm to serve in lunchrooms.
The goal of the program is to increase consumption of fruits and vegetables in the schools while teaching the importance of nutrition.
"It's really unheard of to have all the schools come together and collaborate with one goal in mind, " said Amanda Frisque with Green Bay Area Schools.
The districts purchased the produce from DJ's Farm-Fresh Produce in Hortonville allowing teachers and staff to teach kids another lesson.
"Kids are so curious about the world so when we start to explain to them that it comes from people who grow your food and put it together in a healthy meal. It gets them really excited," said Beth Heller with Live 54218.
