Partners in Education: Summer Learning

Posted

Summer School is no longer just about re-taking a class you struggled with. Green Bay Public Schools offers a variety of enrichment courses focusing on everything form science to fitness. 10,000 students participated in Summer School last year and the district expects even more this summer.

Summer School Coordinator Mark Allen says parents can also do learning at home with their student. He recommends reading with your student for 20 minutes a day and also infusing challenges in everyday tasks. "Math you can use in everyday life. When you go to the grocery store to pick up a gallon of milk (say) here's $5 what's my change going to be," said Allen.
