A new initiative to increase Door County's workforce is starting with inspiring the students in their schools.

"We're putting a top priority on educating our youth about the great careers that are available right here in their home town," said Bill Chaudoir, Executive Director of the Door County Economic Development Corporation.

The Door County Economic Development Corporation is collaborating with area businesses and schools to make connections with students before they graduate.

Next school year the state is mandating schools implement academic and career planning curriculum for students starting in the 6th grade. The Grow Door County initiative is hoping to take that a step further with Inspire Programming. It will allow students to interact directly with businesses in Door County.

“Students can ask the question. How much can I make as an electrician? And hear the answer from a job coach actually hiring,” said Chaudoir.
