A vigil of support for the victims of the San Bernardino massacre was held at the Qamar mosque in Oshkosh Friday night. About 100 people turned out for the prayer service.
Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community condemned the shootings in California which killed 14 and injured 22. Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik opened fire on a holiday party on December 2nd. They were killed in a gun battle with police just hours after the attack.
In the days following the massacre, the FBI classified it as an act of terrorism saying the two had become radicalized and pre-planned the massacre.
In Oshkosh Friday night, Muslims spoke out against the violence during the gathering that they invited people of all faiths to attend.
"Hopefully the message is to be of peace and harmony, and this small gesture allows us to further that cause," said Khurram Ahmad.
Members of the mosque in Oshkosh issued a statement saying they stand in solidarity with the victims' families as their neighbors, and brothers and sisters in peace.
