All Boston Stores and Younkers stores will officially close this week, but there's a hint that at least the store name may be back.
After liquidating much of their inventories, Boston Store and Carson's have both put on their websites that they are eyeing a comeback. On the homepage of bostonstore.com , they say that the store is coming back. Carsons.com , owned by the same parent company, says the same thing. The same can be said for the Younkers website, also owned by Bon-Ton.
The message on the Younkers site reads, "We've got great news. Younkers is coming back!"
The Milwaukee Business Journal is reporting that the intellectual property of Bon-Ton, Younkers' parent company, is in the process of being sold.
In a Friday statement to the Business Journal, the president of retail solutions at Great American Group Scott Carpenter—whose firm in charge of Bon Ton's liquidation—said: "We cannot speak to the purchaser’s future plans with the company. All inquiries should be referred to the buyer, which will be disclosed once the transaction is closed."
