Man arrested after weapons threat, chase through 2 counties

One man is arrested after he called 911 and said he “wanted to kill a cop.”

It began just after midnight on Wednesday in the parking lot of an apartment in the 200 block of W. Calumet Street in Fox Crossing.
 
The 33-year-old man stated he was in a car in the parking lot. Officers from Neenah, Menasha, and the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department blocked off the area and tried to locate which car he was in. He was located, and talks began in attempt to get the man to surrender.
 
The man was able to maneuver around police vehicles and fled. Officers followed him onto Highway 441 north near Darboy. Officers from Fox Valley Metro and Kaukauna police departments assisted. Stop sticks were deployed on I-41 near Highway 441, and the man finally stopped on I-41 near the Highway 55 exit.
 
Negotiations were held with the man on the highway, and he was taken into custody around 1:50 a.m. 
 
 
The suspect was charged with OWI and eluding.

UPDATE: One person is in custody after a high speed chase through Winnebago and Outagamie counties early Wednesday morning. 

Police said the chase started on Calumet street in Fox Crossing and ended on Highway 41 at Wisconsin 55 in Kaukauna. 

Just before 2 a.m., the Outagamie County Sheriff's Department blocked off both lanes of 41 because of the incident. 

According to sheriff's deputies, a spike strip was deployed which ended the chase. 

They said the driver was taken into custody without incident. 

Deputies said no weapon was ever fired, but they wouldn't confirm if the suspect even had a gun. 

No one was injured. 

Several other law enforcement agencies were involved in the chase. 

There is no word on what charges the suspect is facing. We are expecting to learn more.

Parts of I-41 were closed near WIS 55 early Wednesday morning because of an ongoing police incident. 

The Outagamie County Sheriff's department shut down both lanes around 1:40 a.m.

The Outagamie County Sheriff's department is on the scene.
