A man was killed in an officer-involved shooting around 8 p.m. Monday in the Town of Franklin.
During a press conference Tuesday, authorities released very few details, but did say the deceased suspect began an autopsy at 9 a.m.
County Highway AB was closed for most of the day Tuesday but reopened to traffic just after 5 p.m.
The Kewaunee County Sheriff told NBC26 the officer involved is a deputy with the Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Office. The deputy involved was not harmed, deputies said.
The sheriff says the alleged shooting happened about a half mile away from the Franklin Town Hall, near the intersection of County Road J and County Road AB.
The details of what led to the shooting have not been released and several agencies are helping with the investigation.
The Department of Criminal Investigation is the lead agency working on the investigation.
The Kewaunee County Sheriff says a press conference is planned for 9 a.m. Tuesday morning to provide another update on the investigation.
