The Green Bay Protection and Welfare Committee on Monday considered the possibility of banning animals at farmers' markets.

"Some dogs are good in crowds and some aren't," said Alderman Bill Galvin.

"Two dogs meet up and could have an altercation in a crowded area like that."

The Wednesday market on Broadway and the Saturday market on South Washington Street have policies which ban pets.  Service dogs are still allowed.

There is not a city ordinance that bans pets from farmers' markets.
