It has been one year since five officers were ambushed and killed in Dallas in the single deadliest day for law enforcement since September 11.

On Friday, the city of Dallas remembered the four police officers and one transit officer killed in the shootings.

One of the officers injured in the attack last year was Gretchen Rocha, originally from Fox Lake, Wisconsin.

NBC26 spoke with Rocha's sister Friday. She said Rocha is doing well and is scheduled to work Friday evening.

Rocha bounced back quickly, her sister said.

The tragedy took place as a lone shooter opened fire during a peaceful protest in downtown Dallas on July 7, 2016. The attacker, a military veteran, said he was upset about the recent police shootings of black men that sparked protests nationwide.

A public memorial will be held in Dallas Friday evening and a monument honoring the officers will be dedicated.
