A 28-year-old Oconto woman allegedly drug a dog behind her Jeep at about 7:15 p.m. Sunday, traveling about three miles along Tower Drive Road and Military Road in the town of Stiles, Oconto County.
The medium-sized white dog died minutes after an Oconto County Sheriff's Department lieutenant stopped the Jeep and loosened the nylon lead rope that had tightened up around the dog's neck, according to the criminal complaint filed Monday.
Jordan McDonald, 28 of Oconto, has been charged with mistreatment of animals and disorderly conduct. According to online court records, McDonald made an initial court appearance Monday where $10,000 cash bond was set. She's scheduled to return to court at 10 a.m. Thursday.
McDonald was involved in an argument Sunday night at a home in the 7100 block of Tower Drive Road and the dog was tied to the Jeep when she left, according to the complaint. McDonald told the sheriff's lieutenant that she didn't know the dog was tied to the vehicle.
