State legislators moved towards making it easier to build nuclear power plants in Wisconsin.
A legislative committee approved a bill that would lift Wisconsin's moratorium on new nuclear power plants. Currently, state regulators cannot approve a new plant unless a federal facility for storing the waste from nuclear plants nationwide exists. The new bill erases the storage facility and rate-payer language form state law.
