The Forest County Sheriff's department reports they were called to a plane crash Friday afternoon around 4 PM.
The plane had crashed while attempting to land on Lake Metonga. Deputies arrived and found a plane upside down in the water, but it was designated for water landings so was still floating.
A 64-year-old man was the pilot and was able to free himself along with a 16-year-old passenger. They were helped to safety by boaters nearby. No one was injured.
Officers from the City of Crandon Police Department and the Wisconsin DNR also assisted. The crash investigation is active and ongoing at this time.
