On February 13, 2017 the Brown County Fire Investigation Task Force and the State Fire Marshal’s Office investigated a fatal fire at 3902 Tamarack Drive, Pittsfield.

The victims had been previously identified as 49-year-old Allen Reiner and 41-year-old Molly Brockman. Autopsy results revealed both victims died due to thermal injuries and smoke inhalation with no signs of foul play discovered during the autopsy.

The fire had burned for a period of time before being discovered and extinguished. A large portion of the structure was destroyed including evidence that would be used to aid investigators in determining the exact are of origin.

The fire destroyed the water heater, furnace, electronics and refrigerators, which are typically helpful aids to fire investigators. The origin could be narrowed only to the eastern three-quarters of the residence with the exact location unable to be pinpointed.

Through the course of the investigation there has been no evidence to indicate a criminal act or that the fire was suspicious in nature. The cause of the fire is being listed as “undetermined” and the investigation will be concluded barring any new evidence.
