There's a new "king of the jungle" at the NEW Zoo and Adventure Park!

A 2-year-old male lion named Loiwotwa has arrived from the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.

Loiwotwa, a.k.a. Loid, is a good match for the zoo's female lion, Ajia, according to the Species Survival Plan Program Leader for African Lions.

The two cats are getting to know each other off exhibit right now, the zoo explained.

However, Loid is adjusting well, so he is expected to be on exhibit during Brew at the Zoo & Wine Too on Thursday, September 14 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. For tickets, visit the zoo's website here.

Loiwota means "the wanderer," and he is named after a wild lion who had been monitored by the Ewaso Lions project. The organization works in Kenya to connect local people with lion conservation projects.
