Many people are questioning the safety of their local zoos after a three-year-old boy climbed into a gorilla exhibit at the Cincinnati Zoo. Zookeepers say they killed the gorilla to save the child's life.
Leaders at the NEW Zoo have been watching the story in Ohio closely. They're reminding parents visiting the animals in Suamico to always keep a close eye on their children.
"It is very important again to treat this like you would a park near a busy street. It could get dangerous very quickly," said NEW Zoo Curator Carmen Murach.
Murach says their fences are high enough at the NEW Zoo, but they're asking parents to warn their kids about the possible dangers when visiting the grounds.
