SUAMICO, Wis-- The NEW Zoo has lost three of their North American River otters to a disease.
Four North American River Otter pups were sickened by a gastrointestinal problem.
In a statement, the say that "The Zoo veterinarian and keepers were able to save two of the pups, but sadly, the mother and two pups did not survive despite prompt treatment. Preliminary test results indicate an intestinal infection may be the culprit."
The remaining two adult otters and two pups are under observation.
Tests are being done on the three lost otters.
Results are expected in three to four weeks.
