GREEN BAY -- This year there were extra patrols and plenty of options to keep people safe after New Year's Eve celebrations. All that hard work seemed to have paid off, there were zero alcohol related accidents investigated by Wisconsin State Patrol.
"New years eve seems like one of those nights where there's a lot for people to do"
Last night Lou Judge with the Wisconsin State Patrol says numbers in northeast Wisconsin were low.
"We had one OWI arrest last night in Green Bay so it was a good night"
That's on state highways from Fond Du Lac County all the way up to Door County.
On city streets Appleton police report from noon yesterday until today there was only one OWI arrest and while Oshkosh's number is higher at five. Overall Northeast Wisconsin did well.
Extra police patrols could be one reason for the low numbers but it could also be the options for transportation available.
"I think people made prior plans that seemed to be the best way a designated driver spending the night somewhere taxi but or uber"
