Good news, beer lovers: a new study suggests beer has health benefits!

The hops used to brew beer can combat inflammation and the silicon in beer can increase bone density, according to Alicia Bosscher, a dietician with UW-Health.

The alcohol content can also have a positive impact on heart health. However, there's one key piece of information: drink in moderation.

"Very crucial," said Bosscher. "All of the studies that are saying, here's a benefit, here's a benefit, here's a benefit, that word moderate, moderate consumption is there."

So what does moderation look like? Experts say no more than two drinks a day for men or one for women.
