Leaders of a local animal shelter say they've reached their goal and now they're inviting the community to see it.
Saturday, the Haven Animal Rescue and Community Outreach hosted an open house in Howard.
Officials say this new shelter is the end-result of three years of fundraising, hard work, planning, and dedication to their goal to serve animals in the Howard area.
"So today we're hoping to bring people in and to see how hard we've worked as a volunteer team, to hopefully get new volunteers on board so we can continue to grow and provide excellent care for these pets until they find their families," says founder and president, Leighann Wegner Kroening.
Officials say there are currently 14 adoptable cats and four adoptable bunnies.
