Scammers, using a variety of methods, post fake ads in multiple cities designed to get your personal information. Asking renters to purchase a credit report, or send a wire of money.
The Bureau offers these tips to prevent being scammed, like never sending money before seeing a property in person; watch out for offers that sound too good to be true, and search other nearby cities to see if the ad is posted there.
