A new statewide initiative launched Monday aims to protect senior citizens from abuse.
The campaign kicked off in Green Bay with Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel and other state lawmakers and officials. AG Schimel will be creating a task force to address elder abuse.
According to research, one in nine Wisconsin seniors have reported being abused, neglected or exploited in the past year.
"We can't forget about our seniors and our vulnerable adult population," Schimel said. "They're every bit as important for us to take care of."
The task force will meet for the first time in October.
