A federal grand jury has accused a Las Vegas man of threatening to kill a student at Madison's Edgewood College.

Prosecutors charged 42-year-old Stephen Hemmes on Nov. 10 with using interstate commerce to threaten the student. A grand jury indicted him on that count Wednesday.

According to court documents, Hemmes called an Edgewood security guard on Nov. 9 and threatened to drive to the college to shoot a student who is Hemmes' ex-girlfriend's son. Hemmes said the student and his mother had hacked his computer and placed child pornography on it. Hemmes was arrested the next day.

He would face up to five years in prison if convicted.

His attorney, identified in online court records as Paul Riddle of Las Vegas, didn't immediately respond to an email.
