Neenah police buying more non-lethal guns

Posted
The Neenah Police Department has three non-lethal weapons right now, but it's purchasing six more so that all nine squads on patrol will have them.

The guns will shoot foam rounds. They're used to try and control a situation before it escalates. Police say the weapons aren't right for all situations, but they will help officers react to situations faster.

"The benefit obviously is that you have the weapon there quickly, so whenever there's a situation, the officer always has that option available and we don't have to wait," said Captain Edgar Gonzalez.

The department plans to sell seven of its old shot guns to pay for these new weapons.
