Getting test day ready!

GREEN BAY - The next ACT test for incoming college freshman is October 22nd. Potential college students can still late register for that test date, but experts highly suggest taking the proper amount of time to study.

“If you have a longer period of time, I generally suggest 10 weeks of study so you can build that endurance up because that 4 ½ hours is incredibly long.” said Kreigh Knerr.

Knerr is the Director of the Knerr Learning Center. He says the ACT and the SAT are not the only defining factors that can get you into college, but they certainly can keep you out of college.

“I recommended using real ACT and real SATS and working out from those because then you do see questions that are really on the test.” said Knerr.

You can take either test to get into college. The ACT is more common in the Midwest, but there are some differences in both.

“The SAT reading passages you have 13 minutes, while in the ACT reading passages you have 8 minutes and 45 seconds, which is a substantial difference.” said Knerr.

“You should take the test that best fits you. The ACT is a whole lot faster so if you’re a good reader, but you’re a slow reader who doesn’t mind math. The SAT might be a better fit. if you happen to be a very fast reader the ACT is going to work very well for you.”

For people looking for a calm place to study, you almost never need to look too far.

“We’re here for you so let us help you, let us know if you’re struggling a bit, we’re here for you,” said Mary Krauss.

The Brown County Central Library has several ACT, SAT and Knerr’s own book to borrow for study purposes.
